Parent Teacher Organisation

Parent Involvement is a term that parents of school-aged children hear frequently.

Research shows that our children will be more likely to “earn higher grades, have better social skills, and be more likely to graduate high school” if parents are involved in their education. Since these outcomes are what we all want for your children, we need you to get involved.

The parent teacher organisation (PTO) gives parents and teachers the opportunity to work together to supplement and enrich the educational experience. And with today’s tight budgets, a strong, well-functioning PTO can be a teacher’s most important ally when it comes to achieving curricular and fundraising goals.

The main aim of the PTO at Edison International Academy, Aspire, is to get as many parents as possible involved into supporting the daily life at school. As mentioned above, parental involvement is important to student success.

A PTO is also a wonderful resource for community outreach and support. It can organise parties to fill backpacks with school supplies before school starts or giving trees during the holidays. A giving tree organised by the PTO, in particular, allows all parents to help give back to the school community.

In line with community outreach falls the involvement of the wider community. This can be done through trips, inviting businesses or professionals to school to enrich our students’ learning opportunities, or organise work experience/charitable projects.

A PTO works best when everyone has a clear idea of what goals they’re working toward. It is therefore important to focus on specific projects and keeping open lines of communication open during regular meetings and through e-mail between meetings. These steps will make working together easy, enjoyable, and productive.

If you are keen on playing an active role in our school community and beyond, please express your interest by sending an email to pto@edisonqatar.com along with your contact details. We look forward to working with you!
