The primary roles undertaken by the School Clinic are as follows:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Provide first aid or emergency care to sick or injured students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Assess students, to detect early signs and symptoms of health problems, which will affect learning.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Monitor and maintain growth and development of students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Administer nursing care appropriate to the identified nursing needs of the students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Plan, implement and evaluate health education programme for students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Plan, implement and evaluate vaccination programmes for all the students in the School.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Maintain and submit required records and reports as per Ministry of Health guidelines.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>2. Guidelines on Accident and Emergencies:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>The School Nurse or the School Administration shall notify the parents or guardians in the event of accidents and\/or cases of emergencies. The School Administration is to ensure that all student and parent details are updated termly so that contact can be made without problems in case of an emergency.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>The School Nurse shall ensure that the parents or guardians have authorised the administration of emergency medical treatment for the sick or injured students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>3. Policy on Medication:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Medication brought in from home, will not be administered without a written prescription from the doctor. This includes all over the counter medication such as Paracetamol.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>All medications shall be stored in their original pharmacy or manufacturer labelled containers, and in such manner as to render them safe and effective. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>A parent, guardian or a designated responsible adult will deliver the prescription medications to the School Nurse. Medication must not be left with the class teacher.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>The student shall only take the medication under the supervision of the School Nurse.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>4. Policy on Sickness:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Students who have a fever measuring 37.7 and above, are vomiting or diagnosed as clinically unwell by the school nursing team will not, under any circumstances be permitted to return back to the classroom and\/or travel home by school bus. They are required to be collected by a parent or guardian<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>In order to return to school, the child should remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever \u2013 reducing medications, i.e. Paracetamol.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>5. Policy on Immunisation:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Scheduled vaccination programs will take place for students in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Consent forms will be distributed for those wishing to partake.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Parents are required to submit applicable vaccination documents to the School Nurse for recording purposes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>The School Nurse shall maintain the cumulative School Health Records on all enrolled students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>6. Policy on Referral to Health Care Providers:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For students who require further medical intervention, the school nurse and\/or the School Counsellor\/Psychologist will provide a referral notification document to the parent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>7. Confidentiality Policy:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Information in the student&#8217;s School Health Record will not be released to third parties, except with written permission from the parents or guardians, or a directive from any of the State of Qatar\u2019s ministries.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>8. Forms and Declarations:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The following forms\/documents\/declarations are required to be submitted to the School Clinic, through the Admission Office, prior to the child&#8217;s commencement Edison International Academy:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Personal Information \/ Medical History \/ Immunisation declaration<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Consent for the Administration of Medications<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Consent for Emergency Treatment<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Dietary Information<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Copy of updated vaccination card, in English or translated into English.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><\/span><span>Any other medical information the school needs to be aware of: your child\u2019s place at the school will not be guaranteed if you do not submit required medical forms and documentation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span><b>9.
