At Edison International Academy, your child will be guided through the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework of England.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>A child\u2019s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure,\u00a0safe\u00a0and happy childhood is\u00a0important in its own right, and\u00a0it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>Children develop rapidly during the Early Years Foundation Stage \u2013 socially, emotionally,\u00a0physically\u00a0and intellectually \u2013 and each child is entitled to provision that supports and extends knowledge, skills,\u00a0understanding\u00a0and confidence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>There are three characteristics of effective learning, which are considered essential for a child\u2019s holistic development (Tickell review of the EYFS curriculum 2011):<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At our campuses, we organize our Preschool and Reception classes to ensure that we offer all children opportunities to explore these characteristics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We do recognize that \u2018play\u2019 is of the utmost importance in the learning process for children in our Preschool and Reception classes, and fall in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014, which\u00a0states\u00a0that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cEach area of learning and development must be implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated\u00a0activity. Play is\u00a0essential for children\u2019s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems, and relate to others.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
